Christ's Vicarious Performance - The Missing Heart of the Gospel

The Missing Heart of the Gospel and the Whole Antidote to Condemnation and Failure

(LIVING WISDOM Life and Counselling Skills, 2010 David J Riddell, Nelson, N.Z.)

Before we can properly understand just what Christ has done, we must first grasp who Christ is. Before everything else, He is a vicar / priest to the whole world, and this is how we must understand Him, if we are to avoid turning faith into another work." (Dietrich Bonhoeffer. German theologian and WWII martyr).

A very early quote from the Patristic's reminds us that "Those unincluded in the Incarnation are forever the unredeemed". (Therefore, unless Christ included all people in His righteous identity we have no right to tell everyone that "Christ died for them". He cannot die for those whom He did not include, so unless 'He' includes 'all', He could not represent any.

Vicarious - from whence comes the word 'Vicar' and Priest - actually means 'the one for the many', or 'on behalf of all'. Words used in the New Testament which witness to its truth are 'Emmanuel - God with us', 'The Son of Man', the 'Second Adam', the High Priest, the 'Incarnation', and the 'Lamb of God, slain from the foundation of the world. But the emphasis of all of these titles is upon the being of Christ, as distinct from His actions. Evangelicals know that Jesus died for us, but this is only possible because 'He' included us, i.e. we were 'in Him' from the beginning. But we do not place ourselves in Him by virtue of our willpower, commitment, or exemplary behaviour. Rather, we discover that we are already 'in Him' when we realise that what he did at Calvary, He did for us, or more accurately, as us, and thus we may "accept Christ" as our true self - our true identity, as St Paul also discovered. So it is in accepting Christ, that we are then enabled to accept ourselves. This is vital to grasp, in order to achieve true peace with God's fierce righteousness and escape the unrelenting searchlight of our own guilt, idealism and the tyranny of perfectionism which can easily spoil our best moments. Who can honestly examine their shame until they are certain that it won't all result in God's rejection of them?

'For Us' means 'As Us'.

So it is more accurate to say He died as you. Nothing too new here, this of course is basic evangelical theology - the substitutionary atonement / sacrifice. What is not so well understood, and what is more needed in a performance driven world (and church), is that He also therefore lived a perfect life for us - all of us. Indeed that he lived perfectly as all of us. And this is exactly the point that Paul is at such lengths to make in Romans 5, when he opens up the vicarious nature of Adam and Christ. Adam has vicariously doomed us ALL to failure, futility and death - but the Second Adam has 'performed' perfectly before God, on behalf of ALL. His 100% pass is ours to rest on / accept / appropriate. In other words there are no more 'brownie points' left for you to earn, 'cos Jesus has got the lot, on your behalf. Is this real for you yet, or are you still focused on others opinions of you, or yourself and your own performance? Remember Paul's words; "Indeed I do not even judge myself, but leave all that to Him..." (1 Cor. 4:3). Result; a joyful end to unhealthy introspection, idealism, perfectionism, guilty condemnation, spiritual 'driveness' and inadequacy - fear of failure. It is true peace with self and God the 'Good News' (Uon galeon).

This then sets up a place of utmost security in which therapy may safely progress - from which one can only then consider one's own or one's client's real faults and true guilt - without anticipating a knee-jerk reaction or psycho-spiritual danger. This is also the way to get past the over-powering reaction to deny, justify, trivialise or hide in any one of our multitude of psychological defences, in order to hang on to home-made innocence. The Christian gospel is thus the only totally safe context for depth psychology to operate in. (A person too defensive or too proud to accept correction is simply too scared to humble themselves, because their necessary innocence remains in real jeopardy.)

Without this understanding properly laid down, a dangerous and subtle shift occurs in many Christians thinking. What happens is that their confidence gradually and imperceptibly shifts from faith in Christ, to faith in themselves, by constantly inspecting their own commitment, performance, spirituality, and religious efforts, under the influence of repeated criticism, either from themselves or others. This always results in the insecurity endemic to self-righteousness. To these grace-talking-but-performance-driven people, Paul's words to the Galatians still invoke a wake-up call: "Oh you foolish Galatians, having begun by the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh (will-power and try-harder)?" (Galatians 3:3). Restitution must precede full restoration to psycho-spiritual health and self-respect, but who can humble themselves before people and make themselves so vulnerable, (apologise, back-down, pay-back, confess wrongdoing, humble themselves) until they know that they are STILL SECURE in God's approval, throughout? (This is the number one healing factor for a troubled marriage where pride is the primary problem.)

Human 'Being' or Human 'Doing'?

Now it's time to make the paradigm shift from doing to being, from performance to grace, from guilt to gratitude - He has won the victors crown on our behalves - and to relax in the realization that our efforts are no longer the vital factor. Indeed "gratitude that his service isn't vital, is really the only legitimate motivation for a Christian to perform any act of service." (Augustine). Finally, we have come into the 'rest' that Hebrews promises us. Our law then, is the 'royal law', the New Testament 'law of liberty', found only 'in Christ', in a place free of fear of condemnation. We'll let Dietrich Bonhoeffer sum it up... "If Jesus is not God, then he can't help us. If Jesus is not man, then He (still) can't help us."

I was Banned by Facebook for an Absurd Offense

A few days ago I posted this picture on my Facebook God or Absurdity page along with the hashtag #WeAreAllMuslim :

I made the picture in response to the idiotic #WeAreAllMuslim campaign started by Michael Moore which included a picture of himself standing in front of Trump Tower and holding a sign saying

His idea is to oppose what he sees as anti-Muslim rhetoric from Donald Trump and others, and he is trying to encourage people to stand up for Muslims and show their solidarity with them.
(See Michael Moore starts #WeAreAllMuslim Campaign in Front of Trump Towers - Jihad Watch)

But as David Wood rightly points out in his recent video on this topic, Michael Moore needs to look up 4 words in the dictionary: 1. We, 2. Are, 3. All, and 4. Muslim. Not only is he being absurdly stupid but he is also insulting Islam because of the strong distinction made in Islam between those who are actually Muslim (who have submitted their lives to Allah and accept that Muhammad is the prophet of Allah) and those who are not Muslim (who according to Islam are kafirs (non-Muslims / infidels) that should be killed if they will not submit to Islam).

With that said, this morning when I logged in to Facebook I was met with the following message: "We Removed Something You Posted. We removed the post below because it doesn't follow the Facebook Community Standards":

As a result of my "offending" I've been banned from Facebook for 24 hours and threatened with being banned from Facebook altogether if I continue to post things that they consider to be violating their community standards:

For some reason Facebook didn't seem to have a problem with the other picture I made and posted just a few hours after the first one:

In the wake of all of this I made another review of Facebook's community standards and can only see two possible categories that I may have been deemed to have violated - one is using "hate speech", and another is related to expressing support for "dangerous organizations". I've done neither of those things. My only real "crime" is that I've offended Muslims who either don't have a clue about what it really means to be a Muslim or I've been on the receiving end of Muslims who are engaging in taqiyya (lying for Islam) in order to try and keep people deceived about what Islam really is.

If Facebook were honest they'd have another section in their community standards - "offending Muslims" which it would seem is not allowed under the new Facebook fascism (a.k.a. sharia law compliance).

Most of the employees at Facebook are most likely to be liberals, and a small number are likely to be Muslims, so I can understand them getting upset at my anti Islam posts which are hitting on many things that the politically correct brigade deem as un-PC "hate speech". (I regularly post things on the God or Absurdity page about issues related to the evil of Islam, as well as the evil of abortion etc)

We are NOT all Muslim #WeAreNOTAllMuslim, but I have to wonder if Facebook staff are all Muslim with the way they are kowtowing to Muslims in an effort to try to preserve Islam's image.

Believe it or not I don't hate Muslims. I love Muslims. I love them enough to speak the truth in the hope that they will realise how evil Islam is and leave their false religion so that they can find the truth and forgiveness that is in Jesus Christ alone.

Some might argue that I shouldn't do anything to offend Muslims, but why should the truth be suppressed? Why should we have to tiptoe around Muslims like we might tiptoe around the mafia, especially if Islam is supposed to be 'the religion of peace'? It's not like my offending post was saying anything that isn't common knowledge - that ISIS / the Islamic State are claiming to be Islamic - they even have the Islamic shahada on their flag.

Others argue that Islam is not a violent ideology and that ISIS aren't Muslim, but this simply isn't true. Everything that ISIS are doing is based on the Quran and the Sunna (the actions and sayings of Muhammad which are recorded in the Hadith and Sira.)

Liberals and moderate Muslims are desperate to avoid the association between ISIS and Islam. As I said to a Muslim the other day who had objected to my #WeAreAllMuslim post: "So you've got no problem with verses like this? ["I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and every fingertip of them." Quran 8:12] The Quran is full of over 100 jihad verses...

This Muslim is so ignorant of what the Quran actually says that even when confronted with a direct quote from the Quran commanding beheading of infidels he can't accept that it's in the Quran. Amer said he would leave Islam if the above verse was in the Quran, which I'd love to think is true, but he never responded after this. (From my research and experience talking with Muslims I've found that over 90% of Muslims have never read all of the Quran, and when confronted with the many verses of violence from the Quran they usually end up playing intellectually dishonest mind games to avoid the obvious).

All of this censorship is highly hypocritical of Facebook because they allow things that are much worse than what I posted that are often mocking Christianity, contain graphic violence, are x-rated, or sometimes contain a combination of all of the above.

There is even a Facebook page called "Death to America & Israel" that regularly has extreme posts inciting hatred and violence in particular against Israel and the Jews.
(See God or Absurdity Blog: Facebook's "Community Standards" Hypocrisy
and Religious Censorship Rising on Facebook, iTunes, Conservatives Cry - Charisma News)

We are living in a time when Islam is becoming more and more of a problem around the world with terror attacks happening with increasing frequency, and yet so few are willing to speak out against Islam out of fear of offending. If we continue to try and appease the bullies we are destined to live in subservience to them. The Islamic term for this is called 'dhimmitude', and it's a state that most are living under without even realising it.
(See TheReligionofPeace - Islam: Requiring Other Faiths to Pay Up
and Boycott Halal - God or Absurdity Blog.)

As the well-known saying goes - 'evil triumphs when good people do nothing'. Don't be one of those people who do nothing to stand against injustice. We all have a voice and can make a difference if we join together and stand up for what is right. In the words of Charlie Hebdo, "I would rather die standing than live on my knees."

The main reason that Islam seems to be taking over the world and creating terror is because most people are afraid to speak the truth about it and do what it takes to oppose it. The West's rejection of Christianity has created a vacuum that is enabling Islam to come in and to flourish.

The ultimate solution to the problem of Islam and the problem of terrorism is the gospel of Jesus Christ. When I talk with Muslims online I explain to them why Islam is evil and why they need to turn to Jesus. I encourage them to read the Quran and the Bible for themselves and to seek the truth. While most Muslims can't handle the truth, some do listen (and even with those that seem not to listen you never know what is going on in their hearts), and I've had one Muslim so far that is very close to giving their life to Christ as a result of hearing the gospel through this ministry. (I think that person may even have given their heart to Christ but they are struggling to publicly profess their faith out of fear of what will happen if they do so).

If you'd like to keep up-to-date with 'God or Absurdity' I encourage you to subscribe to my blog here by submitting your email in the box above on the right (Follow by email). That way if the God or Absurdity Facebook page does get shut down and removed by Facebook you'll be able to be kept informed about what is going on. If that does happen then I'll try and create a new Facebook page with a slightly different name. I also have a Google Plus account which I use sometimes but I have found it isn't as good as Facebook due in part to being less popular and also it seems to have more atheist trolls.

Finally, if you'd like to help support this ministry financially then you can make donations via

Muhammad Prophet of Islam Meme

I've FACT CHECKED the above meme and found that it's all factually correct and based on authentic Islamic scripture:

(I've added numbers in the quotes below for clarity)

"These are the names of Muhammad's male slaves: (1) Yakan Abu Sharh, (2) Aflah, (3) 'Ubayd, (4) Dhakwan, (5) Tahman, (6) Mirwan, (7) Hunayn, (8) Sanad, (9) Fadala Yamamin, (10) Anjasha al-Hadi, (11) Mad'am, (12) Karkara, (13) Abu Rafi', (14) Thawban, (15) Ab Kabsha, (16) Salih, (17) Rabah, (18) Yara Nubyan, (19) Fadila, (20) Waqid, (21) Mabur, (22) Abu Waqid, (23) Kasam, (24) Abu 'Ayb, (25) Abu Muwayhiba, (26) Zayd Ibn Haritha, and also a black slave called (27) Mahran, who was re-named (by Muhammad) Safina (`ship')." (Zad al-Ma'ad, pp. 114-116)

Muhammad's Maid Slaves "are (28) Salma Um Rafi', (29) Maymuna daughter of Abu Asib, (30) Maymuna daughter of Sa'd, (31) Khadra, (32) Radwa, (33) Razina, (34) Um Damira, (35) Rayhana, (36) Mary the Coptic, in addition to (37, 38) two other maid-slaves, one of them given to him as a present by his cousin, Zaynab, and the other one captured in a war." (Zad al-Ma'ad, pp. 114-116)

"Mohammed had many male and female slaves. He used to buy and sell them, but he purchased more slaves than he sold, especially after God empowered him by His message, as well as after his immigration from Mecca. He once sold one black slave for two. His name was (39) Jacob al-Mudbir. His purchases of slaves were more than he sold. He was used to renting out and hiring many slaves, but he hired more slaves than he rented out." (Zad al-Ma'ad, p. 160)

"Then I put on my clothes and went to Allah's Apostle's residence, and behold, he was staying in an upper room of his to which he ascended by a ladder, and a black slave of Allah's Apostle was (sitting) on the first step. I said to him, 'Say (to the Prophet ) (40) 'Umar bin Al-Khattab is here.'..." (Sahih Bukhari 6:60:435)

"O Prophet! Lo! We have made lawful unto thee thy wives unto whom thou hast paid their dowries, and those whom thy right hand possesseth of those whom Allah hath given thee as spoils of war, and the daughters of thine uncle on the father's side and the daughters of thine aunts on the father's side, and the daughters of thine uncle on the mother's side and the daughters of thine aunts on the mother's side who emigrated with thee, and a believing woman if she give herself unto the Prophet and the Prophet desire to ask her in marriage - a privilege for thee only, not for the (rest of) believers - We are Aware of that which We enjoined upon them concerning their wives and those whom their right hands possess - that thou mayst be free from blame, for Allah is ever Forgiving, Merciful." (Qur'an 33:50 - Pickthall)

"Muhammad was married to thirteen women, including eleven at one time.  He relegated them to either consecutive days or (according to some accounts) all in one night.  He had sex with a 9-year-old girl and married his adopted son's wife (after arranging a quick divorce).  On top of that, Muhammad had a multitude of slave girls and concubines with whom he had sex - sometimes on the very days in which they had watched their husbands and fathers die at the hands of his army."

"Qur'an (4:24) - "And all married women (are forbidden unto you) save those (captives) whom your right hands possess."  Allah even permitted Muhammad and his men to have sex with married slaves, such as those captured in battle."

Narrated Anas bin Malik: The Prophet said to Abu-Dhar, "Listen and obey (your chief) even if he is an Ethiopian with a head like a raisin." - Sahih Bukhari 1:11:664
Narrated Anas: The Prophet said, "Listen and obey (your chief) even if an Ethiopian whose head is like a raisin were made your chief." - Sahih Bukhari 1:11:662
Narrated Anas bin Malik: Allah's Apostle said, "You should listen to and obey, your ruler even if he was an Ethiopian (black) slave whose head looks like a raisin." - Sahih Bukhari 9:89:256

"Narrated Hisham's father:
Khadija died three years before the Prophet departed to Medina. He stayed there for two years or so and then he married 'Aisha when she was a girl of six years of age, and he consumed that marriage when she was nine years old.

The Absurdity of Christian Apologists For Halloween

With Halloween just two weeks away on the 31st of October, I decided to post some things related to this pagan celebration of darkness and evil. Below is one of the pictures that I posted the other day on my God or Absurdity Facebook page. (It was posted on AskDrBrown's Facebook page where it's already had nearly 20,000 Shares and over 4,600 Likes). It's got quite a reaction and a huge number of Christians have been commenting and debating this issue on my page and Dr Brown's page, and no doubt a lot of the people who have shared it have debated it on their own Facebook accounts.

I'm not sure that I'd say that Christians who participate in Halloween are worshiping Satan but it depends on how you define worship. If worship is defined as giving focus, money, and attention to something with deep love and devotion then based on that definition it would seem that some or even many Christians could be said to be worshiping the Devil on Halloween. Sure that is debatable, and I'm not saying that professing Christians who love Halloween are necessarily going to hell, but it does deeply concern and trouble me that the church and the world often are virtually no different in the way they live their lives and that Christians are failing to be salt and light in the world like we are called to be.

I also posted this picture:

While people would argue it's not a real threat and so not extortion, it does seem in principle to be extortion when you think about it. 'Give me candy and if you don't I'll do something bad to you' is basically the premise behind Trick or Treating. Is that what Christians want to be teaching their kids?  It makes me wonder if that's connected with why many Christians have no problem with pastors using a form of extortion when they take an Old Testament tithing verse out of context and threaten non-tithers with God's curse. (See my blog on tithing).

And here's another that I shared - this is an actual Halloween T-Shirt:

Isaiah 5:20 "Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter."

I've been surprised at the number of Christians who are acting like apologists for Halloween - apologists in the sense that they are trying to defend Halloween as something that is a good thing even for Christians, or that at the very least Christians shouldn't judge other Christians who choose to take part in this festival.

One verse that is often quoted is Colossians 2:16:
"Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day."

However, Colossians 2:16 should not be used to defend Halloween because it is about Jewish festivals and celebrations. (See the commentaries in the above link).

Even Kirk Cameron has become an apologist for Halloween. (See Kirk Cameron on Halloween: Christians Should Have the Biggest Party on the Block).

Churches in the USA are even organizing Harry Potter Halloween outreaches, and haunted house Halloween outreaches (such as Scaremare) to try and use Halloween for evangelistic purposes. Given that Halloween is thoroughly pagan I see this as being about as God-glorifying as Christian men going into strip joints to give out tracts. No matter how effective you claim it to be, it's not justifiable.

I've had all sorts of comments on my page from these Christian apologists for Halloween. Here's one example:

When I had a look at his Facebook page I found this picture as his cover page:

And on his Facebook wall he'd posted this picture several weeks ago:

Other Christian apologists for Halloween have been more aggressive in arguing either for why Halloween is good, or why Halloween is permissible or not a big deal. I've been called a legalist (which is nonsense - legalism is something that I argue against), and had other accusations and ad hominem attacks thrown my way. It seems like nothing quite gets a lot of Christians riled like criticizing Halloween.

I wonder if these apologists for Halloween also spend as much time being apologists for Christ? I'm guessing that for many of them that isn't something they're nearly as passionate about.

One of the things I want to make clear is that with any subject we need to have the Word of God as our ultimate authority and final arbiter of truth. We need to go back and ask - what does the Bible say about this? If it's not directly mentioned in the Bible then we need to look at scriptures that are relevant to the issue and from there try to determine what the most biblically consistent position is.

I've asked some of these Christian apologists for Halloween how they came to their conclusions about Halloween being fine for Christians, and one respondent gave a long list of reasons but not one mention of the Bible or even one Bible verse was mentioned by him. That's concerning and indicates to me that such a person does not have the Bible as their authority, but that their own human reasoning is their authority.

The Bible says in Jude 1:23 "save others by snatching them from the fire; to others show mercy, mixed with fear--hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh."
So I wonder why are Christians ok with wearing clothing stained by corrupted flesh in a festival associated with celebrating the demonic?

Of course this isn't a salvation issue, and participating in Halloween isn't going to send you to Hell, but it is going to have you associating with hellish themes, and it's not going to bring you closer to Christ.

As well as all of the pagan and satanic imagery, Halloween is also full of sensuality and debauchery. Years ago one of my non-Christian work colleagues from Canada told me that Halloween was a great time to get laid and that girls seem to lose their inhibitions when they wear a costume and mask. He thought that was a great thing, but of course based on God's word we know it's wrong and sinful.

The increasingly pagan and debaucherous nature of Halloween is clear to see. Even the secular news company CNN can see this: Move over kids: Halloween is for grown-ups - CNN. In the article they say: "Skimpy Halloween get-ups have been available for as long as costumes have been sold commercially, but in the last decade the prevalence of sexy costumes has really exploded".

Another issue raised in the above CNN article is the amount of money spent on Halloween which in 2012 was an estimated $8 billion dollars in the USA.

On top of all of those issues there is also the fact that crime spikes on Halloween night: The Halloween Crime Spike.

Messing with the demonic isn't something to be taken lightly. I'll never forget years ago seeing a teen girl who was a witch but gave her life to Christ. She manifested demons after getting saved and we had to pray for her for deliverance. She was burping and shaking as the evil spirits came out of her.

Why Don't We Celebrate Halloween?

This is one of the best articles I've found on Halloween that looks at the different issues and scriptures related to the topic:

Why Don't We Celebrate Halloween? - Berean Publishers.

The Seven Sins of Halloween

"The Seven Sins of Halloween" - Pastor Steven L. Anderson is the best sermon I've heard on Halloween. (Steven Anderson is a bit wacky and off on other topics, but on the topic of Halloween he gets a lot right, and on that note it's important that we don't reject information that we don't like just based on where it comes from or who says it, as that is a logical fallacy known as the genetic fallacy.

Below are the 7 points from the sermon and most of the Scriptures that he uses, and there are a LOT of Scriptures* that he uses:

1. Idolatry

1 Corinthians 10:20  "No, but the sacrifices of pagans are offered to demons, not to God, and I do not want you to be participants with demons."
Exodus 20:4 "You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below."

2. The Glorification of Death, Darkness, and Evil

Proverbs 8:36 "But those who fail to find me harm themselves; all who hate me love death."

Mark 5:1-8
1They went across the lake to the region of the Gerasenes. 2When Jesus got out of the boat, a man with an impure spirit came from the tombs to meet him. 3This man lived in the tombs, and no one could bind him anymore, not even with a chain. 4For he had often been chained hand and foot, but he tore the chains apart and broke the irons on his feet. No one was strong enough to subdue him. 5Night and day among the tombs and in the hills he would cry out and cut himself with stones.

6When he saw Jesus from a distance, he ran and fell on his knees in front of him. 7He shouted at the top of his voice, “What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? In God’s name don’t torture me!” 8For Jesus had said to him, “Come out of this man, you impure spirit!”"

Luke 22:53 "Every day I was with you in the temple courts, and you did not lay a hand on me. But this is your hour--when darkness reigns."

John 3:19 "This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil."

John 8:12 "When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.""

John 12:35 "Then Jesus told them, "You are going to have the light just a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, before darkness overtakes you. Whoever walks in the dark does not know where they are going."

John 12:46 "I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness."

Acts 26:18 "to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.'"

Romans 13:12 "The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light."

2 Corinthians 4:6  "For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God's glory displayed in the face of Christ."

2 Corinthians 6:14 "Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?"

Ephesians 5:6-13 "Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Be not ye therefore partakers with them. For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light." (KJV)

Ephesians 6:12 "For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms."

Colossians 1:13 "For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves,"

1 Thessalonians 5:5 "You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness."

1 Peter 2:9 "But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light."

Matthew 6:22 "The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light."

1 John 1:6-7 "If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin."

3. Glorification of Fear

2 Timothy 1:7 "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."

Philippians 1:28 "without being frightened in any way by those who oppose you. This is a sign to them that they will be destroyed, but that you will be saved--and that by God."

1 John 4:18 "There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love."

Revelation 21:8 "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death." (KJV)

Hebrews 2:14 "Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death--that is, the devil--"

4. The Appearance of Evil

1 Thessalonians 5:12 "Abstain from all appearance of evil."

5. The Sin of Not Thinking For Yourself

Exodus 23:2 "Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil..." (KJV)

6. The Promoting of Hollywood and it's Worldly Characters (Witchcraft, Sorcery, Sodomy etc)

If Disney is so pure then why do they have a day once a year that is a Gay Day at Disney World?

2 Chronicles 33:6 "He sacrificed his children in the fire in the Valley of Ben Hinnom, practiced divination and witchcraft, sought omens, and consulted mediums and spiritists. He did much evil in the eyes of the LORD, arousing his anger."

Leviticus 20:27 ""'A man or woman who is a medium or spiritist among you must be put to death. You are to stone them; their blood will be on their own heads.'""

Deuteronomy 18:9-12 "When you enter the land the Lord your God is giving you, do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there.  Let no one be found among you who sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft,  or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead.  Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord; because of these same detestable practices the Lord your God will drive out those nations before you."

Leviticus 19:31 ""'Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them. I am the LORD your God."

2 Kings 21:6 "He sacrificed his own son in the fire, practiced divination, sought omens, and consulted mediums and spiritists. He did much evil in the eyes of the LORD, arousing his anger."

Isaiah 19:3 "The Egyptians will lose heart, and I will bring their plans to nothing; they will consult the idols and the spirits of the dead, the mediums and the spiritists."

1 John 2:15 "Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them."

7. Fellowshipping With Devils

Ephesians 5:11 "And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them." (KJV)

If you are a Christian and choose to celebrate Halloween then of course that is your choice, and I'm not going to condemn you for that or assume that you're not a Christian or don't love God. At the end of the day it's your choice - if you want to join in celebrating demons then I can't stop you. All I can do is encourage you to do more research and to look prayerfully at this matter from the light of God's Word. May God be glorified in all that we do and may we live lives worthy of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

American Psychological Association To Classify Belief In God As a Mental Illness

I found this article today from "The News Nerd", dated July 15, 2015. This is what many people think of Christians these days. I will make some comments at the end so please read the article and my response before commenting. Here's the article:

According to the American Psychological Association (APA), a strong and passionate belief in a deity or higher power, to the point where it impairs one’s ability to make conscientious decisions about common sense matters, will now be classified as a mental illness.

The controversial ruling comes after a 5-year study by the APA showed devoutly religious people often suffered from anxiety, emotional distress, hallucinations, and paranoia. The study stated that those who perceived God as punitive was directly related to their poorer health, while those who viewed God as benevolent did not suffer as many mental problems. The religious views of both groups often resulted in them being disconnected from reality.

Dr. Lillian Andrews, professor of psychology, stated, “Every year thousands of people die after refusing life-saving treatment on religious grounds. Even when being told ‘you will die without this treatment’ patients reject the idea and believe that their God will still save them. Those lives could be saved simply by classifying those people as mentally unfit for decision making.”

“Jehovah Witnesses for instance,” Dr. Andrews continued, “will not accept blood under any circumstance. They would rather die than to receive life-saving donor blood. Many religious people believe they have “healing power” in their hands. Many believe they can communicate with God using a personal language, which is unknown to anyone but the communicator and God (known as speaking in tongues). Many often tell of seeing spirits. All of these are signs of a mental break and a loss of touch with reality. Religious belief and the angry God phenomenon has caused chaos, destruction, death, and wars for centuries. The time for evolving into a modern society and classifying these archaic beliefs as a mental disorder has been long overdue. This is the first of many steps to a positive direction.”

With the new classification, the APA will lobby to introduce legislation which would allow doctors the right to force life-saving treatment on those who refuse it for spiritual reasons on the grounds that they are mentally incapable of making decisions about their health.

The American Psychological Association says more information about the study and the new classification will be made available to the public in their upcoming journal (which is expected to be release in early August).

You may be wondering if this story is for real. The answer is - it isn't. It's satire. The News Nerd is a satirical website. Squirreled away at the bottom of their privacy policy it says "The News Nerd is a satirical publication."

Unfortunately this kind of mocking of religion is becoming more and more common, and I believe part of the reason for this is because most churches don't take apologetics seriously. If one of your friends shared this article and said they agreed that religion was a kind of mental illness, what would you say? Would you know how to give a clear and cogent refutation of the article and in so doing give a defense of your faith?

In reality everyone knows that God exists, and to deny it is to suppress the truth in unrighteousness (Romans 1). It's absurd to deny that there is a Creator. You end up having to believe that everything came from nothing for no reason and with no cause. And as I show on my website, without God you can't account for knowing anything. (See

The article mentions Jehovah's Witnesses as if they were just another church denomination but they aren't - they are a mind control cult, and are far from being biblical Christianity. (See

As for wars - this is where it becomes really important to differentiate between Christianity and other religions. Islam has caused more deaths than any other religion - 270 million killed in the name of Allah in the last 1400 years. (See Tears of Jihad).

But if you realise that Atheism, Secular Humanism, and Darwinism are forms of religion and accept that abortion is murder, then those religious ideologies have killed more than any other religion. In the US alone there have been 57.5 million deaths from abortion since 1973 when murdering babies in the womb was made legal. Then factor in Nazi Germany and other dictatorships that were basically following atheistic Darwinism to its natural conclusion and you've got many millions more dead.

Then let's look at suicide which has been increasing in the West as the teachings of Darwinism take root. Why not kill yourself if we're just evolved pond scum? Or murder - why not murder others if it's just societal opinion that murder is wrong?

Without God there is no ultimate standard to determine right or wrong, and no ultimate standard to determine truth and reality from lies and delusion. What used to be considered wrong and mental illness is now considered by many to be normal - such as homosexuality and transgenerism. The APA used to consider homosexuality a mental illness, but now it isn't.
There are even those who think that they are trans-species, which most people see as a mental illness, but it wouldn't surprise me if in a decade or two the APA decides that this is not to be seen as a mental illness but merely different.

All of this is a huge topic, and the issue of mental health and mental illness needs to be taken seriously, but without God there is no basis for determining what is and what isn't mental illness. Even schizophrenia which is clearly a mental illness - without God how do you know that we aren't all living in one big delusion? These are the kind of absurdities that result when you reject and deny God.

I'd also like to point out that making belief in God into a mental illness is the kind of thing that dictatorships have done that has been a step toward rationalising mass genocide of Jews and Christians under Nazi and Communist regimes. Unless we learn from history we are doomed to repeat it.

An Open Letter to Dr Brown - Accepting Genesis Isn't About Scientific Acumen

Dear Dr Michael Brown,

Several months ago you took part in a debate (Smalley vs. Dr Michael Brown | Dogma Debate). At the start of that debate you said:

"I live to be respectfully challenged, or even challenged without respect."

So I hope that you will feel the same way about me challenging you on your views on Genesis that I see as being clearly wrong according to the Word of God.

My name is Brendan Larsen, and although I don't think we have ever met personally, you will probably have seen some of my comments on your Facebook page as "God or Absurdity" of which I'm the founder and main administrator. I also made the God or Absurdity website ( and this blog. I have a theology Degree from Laidlaw College in New Zealand. (

On the positive side of things I'd like to tell you that I appreciate your ministry and agree with a lot of what you post on Facebook especially relating to your stand against gay marriage and your stand against Islam (although I think that you should make it clearer that "radical Islam" is Islam. I have no doubt that you love Jesus with all your heart, and no doubt that you are a man of God with great courage and zeal as I know from personal experience that it's not easy challenging issues like that online.

I've also been blessed by your teaching on revival and more than a decade ago I bought and read your book "Let No One Deceive You: Confronting the Critics of Revival." I got it when I visited the Brownsville Revival for a few days in the US summer of 1997 if I remember correctly. I was deeply impacted by the Spirit of God at that revival, and will never forget the whole experience and the strong sense of the holiness of God. I was so hungry for God to touch my life that I slept outside for 3 days in the parking lot to make sure I was at the front of the line and didn't miss out on the services. (It was the height of summer and very warm so a lot of others were doing the same thing). I can't remember for sure but it's possible I heard you preach at Brownsville, and may have even shook your hand when I got the book.

I was glad to find that you've had the biblical creationist Dr Jonathan Sarfati on your Line of Fire show on Oct 2, 2013. I listened to that show and it was good, but in it you basically said that you didn't have the scientific acumen to know what to believe for sure about Genesis and concluded that the bottom line was that God is the Creator. I agree that God is the Creator. What I wonder though is how you know that the biblical God is the Creator when you aren't sure if Genesis means what it says?

But then just a few days later you had the Old Earth Creationist Hugh Ross on your show. "Special Guest: Hugh Ross - YouTube." (Oct 8, 2013). On the show you were singing Ross's praises and helping promote one of his books.

After Hugh Ross's guest appearance on your show there were a few people who voiced their concern on your personal Facebook page. It would seem on that occasion your motto of living to be challenged was on hold:

What Mark said here about Hugh Ross compromising the Word of God is true, and if you'd have asked Dr Sarfati about that he'd have said the same thing and explained why. After all he has written a whole book responding to Hugh Ross's compromise. The book is called "Refuting Compromise: A Biblical and Scientific Refutation of 'Progressive Creationism' (Billions of Years) as Popularized by Astronomer Hugh Ross."

The fact that you know Hebrew well, have a PhD in Near Eastern Languages, and are such an influential teacher is one of the reasons that you should know better when it comes to these issues Dr Brown. Biblical creation of the literal 6 day creation type is clear in the English, but even clearer in the Hebrew. One of the world's best Hebrew scholars Professor James Barr, had this to say:
“So far as I know, there is no professor of Hebrew or Old Testament at any world-class university who does not believe that the writer(s) of Gen. 1–11 intended to convey to their readers the ideas that (a) creation took place in a series of six days which were the same as the days of 24 hours we now experience (b) the figures contained in the Genesis genealogies provided by simple addition a chronology from the beginning of the world up to later stages in the biblical story.”

(Modern Hebrew scholars have said similar things - for more on this see here). And as you are a Messianic Jew I'm sure that you are more than well aware that Orthodox Jews date the beginning of Creation using the Hebrew Scriptures and have 2015 as 5775 years since Creation. (I don't believe we can know quite this precisely what year Creation took place, but they're not too far off of an accurate biblical time scale).

I'd also like to point out that your views on Genesis aren't just a side issue but are foundational to the truth of God's word. By this I don't mean that you must believe in a literal Genesis to be saved but that if you reject Genesis as literal history then you no longer have any basis for trusting anything in God's Word.

If we can't believe that God meant what he said in Genesis, then we can't trust anything in the Bible to mean what it says. Furthermore, the doctrine of marriage being one man and one woman is founded in Genesis, so if you compromise on Genesis you are also undermining your argument against gay marriage - and the fight against gay marriage and the gay rights activists is one that has has become a major part of your ministry.

Coming back to the Dogma Debate show, at the 56 minute mark you were asked by Smalley what your views were on Creation:

Smalley: So are you a Young Earth Creationist?
Brown: No, I'm not sure about the age of the earth in terms of scientific debate because I don't have the scientific acumen to decide. I know the general beliefs by the vast majority of scientists in terms of an old earth etc. But based on reading Scripture alone I don't believe that it makes clear what the age of the earth is. You can read it as a young earth creationist or you can read it in a different way. I'm trying to read it as written against its Ancient Near Eastern background and things like that... What I absolutely believe is in a Creator. Absolutely. And while there are certainly evolutionary processes that happened the only explanation for the human race, our make up, is that God created us.
Smalley: Ok. So you don't know?

Brown: I don't know.

[Emphasis added]

When you said that there are "certainly evolutionary processes that happened" I'm really not sure what you are saying. I'm assuming that you are referring to speciation - but that's not evolution or evolutionary processes so it's a shame that you've used the terminology that you have. Or are you actually letting slip your true views - that you believe that God used evolution? (Theistic Evolution).

When asked if you think there was an actual Adam and Eve (@57 min), you seemed to be saying that you believe that they were historical people but you also add that some people believe there were hominids. I'm not sure if this means that you think that theistic evolution is a possible option for Christians, but given what you've said already it would seem that you're open to that possibility.

Also when you say that you don't have the scientific acumen to be sure about this issue you are misunderstanding what the issue really is about - it's not about having a strong knowledge of science - it's about holding firm to the truth of God's word and doubting the fallible words of men. True science is about observations that can be made in the present, and so Origins science is not real science because you can never observe what happened in the past but must make many assumptions.

Further on in the debate at around the 64 minute mark you said, "I'm saying because I have all this evidence to believe in Him..." - This is an evidential argument rather than a biblical argument. Yes, it's true that the evidence for God is all around us, but this is not the primary reason we as Christians are to believe that God exists - we are to believe that God exists because the Bible is true, and the proof of this is if you reject it you can't know anything to be true. (See my blog post, The Biblical Basis For Presuppositional Apologetics and my website,

While I was impressed with your patience in your debate with Smalley it was at times, to be frank, a bit painful to listen to because you never really challenged his worldview in a presuppositional way. Without God professed atheists like Smalley can't account for how they know anything, and part of our job is to expose that fact.

Recently on your AskDrBrown Facebook page you posted this:

I agree with this Spurgeon quote, but I believe that this applies directly to you in terms of your thinking when it comes to Genesis - the Bible is clear that Genesis is literal history and that God made everything in 6 literal days, and yet because of the influence the world has had over you in terms of millions of years and evolutionary indoctrination you've been clouded in your mind over what the Bible actually says.

Unless you've somehow managed to avoid all contact with the outside world, never watched TV, never seen any movies, never been to a zoo, never been to any museums, never seen a nature documentary etc - unless you've miraculously managed to avoid all of those things - then it's almost impossible to avoid being exposed to evolutionary millions-of-years ideas. And unless you understand why those ideas are fundamentally flawed (e.g. fatal assumptions in radiometric dating) then it's easy to be influenced by them and think that a literal Genesis doesn't make sense. Then people start to look for alternative explanations for Genesis rather than accepting God's word as being true.

On my website I've put together a few pages on evolution that show in just a few minutes and with a few simple questions why secular scientific ideas can never get the right answer about a young earth if they won't start with accepting a literal Genesis. I hope that you'll have a few moments to have a look at it. (See

Here's another recent meme you posted that has a similar theme as the previous meme:

Another post you made a month or so you rightly rebuked Rob Bell for rejecting the authority of God's word:

While you are nowhere near as far down the slippery slope as Bell, you are at the top of that slope, and by not taking a stand on a literal Genesis you are undermining Scripture.

It's my hope and prayer that you'll come back to the authority of God's Word on this issue, because whether you like it or not you've taken a compromise position that is undermining everything you are fighting for. A good book on this whole topic is Refuting Compromise, by Jonathan Sarfati. I hope that you'll look into this issue more and that you'll accept the truth of God's word.

At the end of the day it's not about having great scientific acumen - it's about trusting God's Word as our ultimate authority. I hope and pray that you'll do this and accept a straightforward and plain reading of Genesis.

Post Edit: Dr Brown's Response. (I was really pleased that he kindly took the time to read this open letter and to respond):

The Illogical Reaper Video Reviews My Website And His Brain Explodes

"The Illogical Reaper" is a professed atheist and gamer who thinks he knows a thing or two. Recently he's taken to making some video reviews mocking Christian websites and Facebook pages. His video review just made me laugh repeatedly as I listened in amazement at the level of folly it takes to deny the God that he knows exists but is in denial about. Laughing like a hyena and saying, "This is f-#@$ing stupid" is not a refutation. Nor is waffling about irrelevant things anything more than an example of the fallacy of irrelevant thesis. (Which is what his attempt to get around the problem of reasoning that his reasoning is valid amounts to.) My suggestion is that he spend less time playing video games and more time thinking seriously about the deeper issues of life before he goes and makes videos like the one he has made. (That's if he wants to be taken seriously.)

He begins his review by saying:
"This is another website I found while browsing around. Apparently there's a God or Absurdity website and if you don't know what God or Absurdity is it's basically like this weird Facebook thing that basically takes presuppositional apologetics to a whole new level..."

(Warning - the video below contains some swearing as a professed atheist's brain explodes from being confronted with the sheer weight of contradictions and absurdity in his worldview.)

Questions / Comments From The Illogical Reaper:

- How do you know God's not lying to you?

If he could you couldn't make sense of your question. (See The Deceptive God Argument Refuted)

- How do you know that's the case? (That without God you can't know anything).

That's exactly what the website goes through and shows. But in short I know that is the case because if you reject God you can't even make sense of your question.

- I know I'm not omniscient

No, you can't even know that without God. I explained it carefully on the website page but you didn't read it properly and were too busy mocking.

- Why does reasoning need to be validated?

Because if you can't validate how you know you aren't insane then you have no basis for knowing anything.

- I'm alive, so that should be enough.

No, it isn't because it doesn't show how anything you claim to know is true. You'd realise this if you thought more about it and actually carefully read the website's page 'I know I exist' instead of just laughing and swearing. And as I point out there, even if I were to grant that you know you exist, so what? Where do you go from there in terms of actually knowing anything about truth in terms of how reality actually is? To say I'm alive, so that should be enough is absurd. It's like a man who is the only survivor from a terrible plane crash who walks out of the burning rubble of the crashed plane and is interviewed by a news reporter. When asked by the reporter how he survived, the man says, "Well if I hadn't survived I wouldn't be here talking to you now would I!"
That's an example of the fallacy of irrelevant thesis, and it's what non-Christians are doing when they say that if their reasoning wasn't valid then they wouldn't be alive talking with you or wouldn't be able to know anything. It takes valid reasoning to know you've got valid reasoning.

- How is God benevolent when he allowed Adam and Eve to Sin?

Because he gave us free will and didn't just create us as robots who would be slaves.

- How do you know that it's the God of the Bible?

Because there are no other gods. (See 'What About Other Gods?')

- This is stupid

Stupidity presupposes that a standard of truth exists, and truth presupposes God.

The Hadith - The Sunna of Muhammed - Book Review

The Hadith, The Sunna of Mohammed, by Bill Warner, is a book that I highly recommend. It's only 70 pages long and is a summary of the Hadith (the sayings of Muhammad). Bill has done the hard work of reading and studying the Hadith and condensing it down to make it readable.

From Bill Warner's website Description:

The Hadith and the Koran repeatedly commands every Muslim to follow the perfect example of Mohammed’s life. His actions and words are called the Sunna. A Muslim is far more governed by the Hadith than the Koran.

The Sunna is found in the Traditions of Mohammed called the Hadith which gives us fascinating accounts about Mohammed. We know what he looked like, his sense of humor, his superstitions and how he ate. Details about his sex life, family life and leadership are all recorded. If only the Koran existed, there could be no Islam. The Koran does not have enough information to practice Islam, but the Hadith has all that is needed to follow the example of Mohammed as a husband, a father, a leader, a warrior and the perfect husband. The Hadith is an easy place to begin learning about Mohammed and Islamic doctrine.

Some Selections From the Book (Note - B = Sahih Bukhari; M = Sahih Muslim.):

Was Muhammad Suffering From OCD? (Heading My Own)

B1,4,169 "Mohammed would perform all tasks by working from right to left. This included putting on his shoes, combing his hair, or washing himself." (Pg 59)

Farting During Prayer is Not Allowed (Heading My Own)

B1,4,137 "Mohammed: “A person at prayer who either urinates, defecates, or breaks wind must repeat ablution, or his prayer will not be accepted.”"

B1,4,139 Mohammed was asked by my uncle about an acquaintance who suspected that he may have broken wind while praying. Mohammed said, “Unless he either hears or smells something, he should not stop praying.”

B1,8,436 Mohammed: “As long as a person is properly praying and does not break wind,
the angels will continue to ask Allah’s forgiveness for you. The angels say, ‘Allah be merciful. Forgive him.’”
(Pg 53)

Muhammad Forbade Laughing at Farts (Heading My Own)

B8,73,68 "Mohammed outlawed laughing at someone for breaking wind."

Don't laugh...

But Laughing at Exposed Genitals is Fine (Heading My Own)

M031,5932 "Amir B. Sa’d reported, on the authority of his father, that Allah’s Apostle gathered his parents for him on the Day of Uhud when a polytheist had set fire to (i.e. attacked fiercely) the Muslims. Thereupon Allah’s Apostle said to him: “(Sa’d), shoot an arrow, (Sa’d), may my mother and father be taken as ransom for you.” I drew an arrow and I shot a featherless arrow at the Meccan polytheist, aiming his side. He fell down and his private parts were exposed. Allah’s Messenger laughed so that I saw his front teeth." (Pg 61)

Throw Effeminate Men From Your Homes

B7,72,774 "Mohammed cursed effeminate men and masculine women. He said, “Throw such people from your homes.”  Mohammed ordered such a man to be turned out and Umar ordered such a woman turned out." (Pg 44)

This would seem to be where ISIS got the idea from to throw gays from high buildings.
(E.g. ISIS Gathers Crowd to Witness Brutal Punishment for Those Accused of This 'Crime' - IJR)

"Mohammed’s first successor Abu Bakr reportedly had a homosexual burned at the stake. The fourth caliph, Mohammed’s son-in-law Ali, ordered a sodomite thrown from the minaret of a mosque. Others he ordered to be stoned. One of the earliest and most authoritative commentators on the Koran, Ibn ‘Abbas (died 687) blended both approaches into a two-step execution in which “the sodomite should be thrown from the highest building in the town and then stoned."
(Islam and Homosexuality - The Religion of Peace)

Some Rats Are Changed Jews
M042,7135 "Mohammed: “A tribe of Bani Isra’il [Jews] disappeared. I do not know what became of them, but I think they mutated and became rats. Have you noticed that a rat won’t drink camel’s milk, but it will drink goat’s milk?”" (Pg 28)

Nazi Propaganda Portraying a Jew as a Rat
No Punishment Is Too Great For The Apostate (& Camel Urine Is Medicinal)

B8,82,797 "Some people came to Medina and soon became ill, so Mohammed sent them to the place where the camels were sheltered and told them to drink camel urine and milk as a remedy. They followed his advice, but when they recovered, they killed the shepherd guarding the camels and stole the herd. In the morning, Mohammed heard what the men had done and ordered their capture. Before noon, the men were captured and brought before Mohammed. He ordered that their hands and feet be cut off and their eyes gouged out with hot pokers. They were then thrown on jagged rocks, their pleas for water ignored and they died of thirst. Abu said, “They were thieves and murderers who abandoned Islam and reverted to paganism, thus attacking Allah and Mohammed.”" (Pg 46)

Kill The Apostate

B9,89,271 "A certain Jew accepted Islam, but then reverted to his original faith. Muadh saw the man with Abu Musa and said, “What has this man done?” Abu Musa answered, “He accepted Islam, but then reverted to Judaism.” Muadh then said, “It is the verdict of Allah and Mohammed that he be put to death and I’m not going to sit down unless you kill him.” [Death is the sentence for apostasy, leaving Islam.]" (Pg 46)

"What is the real Islam? Radical Islam? Fundamentalist Islam? Moderate Islam? Meccan Islam? Medinan Islam? There is only Islam... The Trilogy [Hadith, Sira, and Koran] is perfect, permanent, and universal. It cannot be changed. A Muslim may reform but Islam cannot." (Pg 63, 65)

Abortion - The Modern Holocaust

I regularly post about abortion on my facebook page because it's one of the big evils in society today and I'm convinced that it's something that God abhors. In Jeremiah 19 God says to Israel that he is about to bring judgment on them and allow their enemies to invade them because they were not only worshiping other gods but they were murdering their own children. The Lord said that he would bring disaster on them because they have "filled this place with the blood of the innocent. They have built the high places of Baal to burn their children in the fire as offerings to Baal".

Today the people of God are doing a similar thing - practicing and turning a blind eye to the sin of murdering children through abortion. This sin sees pre-born babies murdered at the altar of personal convenience - a form of self-worship. And then we wonder why God's hedge of protection has been lifted and we are seeing our enemies from Islamic nations attacking the West.

Abortion can be seen as a modern Holocaust that is far worse than what the Nazis did in terms of the number of deaths.

Nazi death toll - 6 million Jews.
Abortion death toll in USA alone - 57.5 million.

Of course many liberals argue that abortion isn't murder, and that it's their body and so it's their choice, but this makes no sense.

It's also absurd that liberals say they are for equality and choice...

Liberals think they are so moral by speaking up for animal rights, but don't seem to care about human rights for the unborn. (Especially ironic given that they argue that humans are evolved animals).

But it's not just liberals that have serious internal contradictions in their beliefs and actions. Something is seriously wrong when the abortion statistics aren't much different between professing Christians and non-Christians...
To those who would argue that abortion is legal and so there's nothing wrong with it - never forget that everything that Hitler did in Germany was legal.

In the First Century, infanticide (the killing of children) was accepted by most people as being normal, but the early Church helped bring an end to this evil practice because they knew that the gospel was not merely about getting into heaven. The gospel is the gospel of the Kingdom - and part of that means that God wants us to make a difference in this world to bring about justice for the oppressed.

Who is more helpless than a child in the womb? We need to speak up for our pre-born neighbors if we are truly going to fulfill God's command to us to "love thy neighbour".
